Bore-well drilling and GSR water storage system
An Oasis in the Desert

The moment a deep level aquifer was tapped with support from the LK Jha Foundation, providing access to fresh water in an otherwise severely drought prone area — the village of Chikhali in rural Maharashtra.

Capturing Water
The Foundation subsequently commissioned the construction of a large water tank to store the water obtained from the the well.

Construction of an adjacent water trough for cattle and other animals in the village
Finishing touches to the water main water tank
Project Completion
Dipika Maharajsingh inaugurated the water storage system in August 2022. The system will hold water obtained from the bore well. A new, significant and reliable water source for the entire village.

The Shri Ramkrishna Water storage system has a capacity of approximately 26,000 litres (Height 3600 mm, diameter 4200 mm and wall thickness of 200 mm) and also includes a specially designed water trough for the cattle and other animals of the village.

A safe and reliable source of water
Now completed, the bore-well and water storage system plays an active role in ensuring that village residents have access to safe and clean drinking water on demand.
